Hi Folks
After getting a positive response to the "Rubber Hits the Road" idea, we are looking for presenters for June for the "Rubber Hits the Road" series.
Please send me ([address removed]) your presentation proposal. Your proposal will be kept private until you are selected to speak. If you are not selected for June, there is always July, Aug, Sep...
What we are hoping to see in a presentation is:
- a computer application, or a component currently applied in one or more specific applications.
- brief description of market and value of the application to end customers - number of existing customers 0..n
- a drill down on some selected java technologies that you find interested that are used in the application.
- key technology or other decisions that you want to talk about briefly - what other "watershed - important" design decisions did you make. For example, I decided not to use hibernate because... or I do not use stored procedures because... Or, I tried to use a web service framework and it failed miserably because... I decided to use REST because...
Presentations should reflect on broad what I will call computer science concepts as well as technology choices. For instance, computer science statement like: "We needed a three tier technology" and (specific technology) we decided to use Sun reference JaxWS 2.1 technology to solve this.
Any terms and technologies should be defined.
Looking forward to those proposals for presentations.
As well, presenters, keep in mind that the presentation will be interactive - you are not supposed to be the "sage on the stage", rather your presentation is meant to focus and stimulate an interactive discussion. We will have a moderator to keep things on track.
As well, presenters and non presenters, let me know if this process needs tuning.
Jim
