Hi Folks Darren Gibbons, Sam Cirka and I been chatting over beers and EMail about how to improve the VanJug for its members and the Vancouver Java Community. One We think that having a speaker series is a good thing. As well we have looked at other infrastructure opportunities like blogs and wikis - but have not settled on anything - there has to be advantage in changing from our current list server. The question here is: What kinds of activities or infrastructure services would improve the Vancouver Java Users Group. As well, if you have names of speakers or you have some subjects or formats for such an event. For example, we discussed a format where people describe their application and perhaps explain their use of some technology such as hibernate, jaxws or jaxb - a sort of war story. As well if you would like to help organize let us know. RIght now we are pushing for a speaker event in September but we do not have a confirmed speaker as of yet. Please send your comments to vanjug<at>gmail.com and optionally, include them for open discussion on this vanjug list server. Jim |

If there's any interest I volunteer to present on Groovy/Grails. The slides from the Vancouver Island JUG and Vancouver Groovy/Grails User Group talks are online at http://slideshow.ruby... Or as an alternative I volunteer to present on a new talk titled Ruby for Java Developers. Just let me know in advance so I can prepare or update the slides. Cheers. -- Gerald Bauer - Internet Professional |
