IBBS, a leading provider of operational support software and back office services deployed by cable and broadband operators worldwide, is currently seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to work in its New Westminster, BC office. The engineer will be a member of the team responsible for the design and implementation of new features within the company’s flagship product and other product offerings. Additionally, the Software Engineer will provide maintenance and support for new and existing products as well as having the opportunity to be involved as a team member in the design and implementation of new features.

This role is part of the IBBS Global Product Development team, which is responsible for providing enterprise class software to support the IBBS product suite.


Knowledge, skills, and experience required


Education and training:


BS or equivalent degree in a technical discipline (e.q. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• 2+ years in a Software Engineering/Developer role

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
  
• A team player attitude with the desire and effort to hold her/himself and others to high standards of quality and productivity.
  
• The desire to continuously learn and improve his/her knowledge and skills.
  
• Working knowledge of Agile software engineering and development principles, practices, and techniques.
  
• Strong knowledge of the Java language and its libraries.
  
• Moderate to strong experience with technology frameworks, tools and middleware including but not limited to: JBoss, Tomcat, JMS, Mule and/or other ESB products and technologies, Spring, JPA, Hibernate and/or iBATIS, Maven and/or Ant, JUnit, Mockito, Subversion, CruiseControl/Bamboo, Web MVC frameworks. 

  
• Experience with XML technologies including binding tools/APIs, schema design, and Web Services frameworks (preferably REST).
  
• Moderate knowledge of SQL and at least one major RDBMS.
  
• Experience with high performance, multi-threaded environments.
  
• Up to date technology awareness and knowledge including: RIA, SOA, ESB, Open Source, O/R Mapping, Eclipse, NetBeans, UML, XML.
  

These are a plus:

• Experience with UNIX/Linux.
  
• Experience in OSS/BSS or the Telecom industry.

  
• Experience developing with or extensive knowledge of network communications/data protocols such as SNMP, Telnet, TCP/IP, DHCP, TFTP, DNS.
  
• Experience developing for network devices in provisioning and diagnostics applications.
