What can you expect in the Senior Java Developer’s position?

You will be involved in designing, developing and delivering new features and enhancements to the Elastic Path enterprise ecommerce product line. You will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including planning, technical design, construction, peer reviews, documentation, testing and deployment. You will be making heavy use of the latest & greatest technologies such as, J2EE, Spring and Web Services, so a craving for learning new things is a must.

In contrast to more traditional software shops, we follow an Agile approach to software development including: short iterations, lots of face-to-face communication, our beloved wiki, friendly high-trust environment, continuous integration and automation, weekly peer reviews, buddying developers with QA engineers, keeping processes as simple as possible, frequent retrospectives, we could go on and on.

Once you join our team, you will be accountable for achieving realistic yet challenging goals:
1. Develop, customize and implement bug-free ecommerce software that exceeds our customers’ requirements
2. Meet project deadlines by understanding and analyzing requirements, designing, developing and testing solutions
3. Contribute to the team and ensure mutual success by providing guidance for development, testing and troubleshooting
4. Show off your time management skills by prioritizing multiple requests from multiple projects
5. Provide status reports and escalate issues as appropriate to the relevant project stakeholders
6. Determine optimal solution designs based on the assessment of costs, risks, complexity and benefits
7. Solve complex problems by leading analysis and development of technical solutions; involve and guide other team members in problem solving activities
8. Successfully deploy our ecommerce platform in a variety of production environments that include Weblogic, Apache Tomcat, Oracle, etc.

What kind of background is required to thrive in this position?

• 5 or more years of software development experience in J2EE and Agile environment
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related
• Experience with Java script, HTML, CSS and AJAX
• Proficient in Java /J2EE web application development (JSP, Servlets, Spring, etc.)
• Experience with:
o building large-scale software applications in a team environment
o at least one of the following databases: Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or MySQL
o at least one of the following Java application server; Tomcat, BEA Weblogic, IBM WebSphere, MVC, and/or JBoss
o test driven development
o at least one version control system
o Eclipse RCP / SWT (or Java Swing, AWT)
o design patterns
• Excellent communications skills and experience interfacing and communicating directly with clients

You may have the opportunity to work with the following technologies:

• Velocity
• EJB or another Object/Relational mapping framework
• Ant / Maven
• Web Services development
• Experience with XML transformation
• Implementation of ecommerce applications
• Experience integrating ERP systems such as accounting, inventory, supply chain management and other business applications
